| Event: | Stories Seldom Told |
| Summary: | The Living Room and Front Porch Spirit Productions present “Stories Seldom Told,” a feminist retelling of some familiar and not so familiar biblical stories, written and directed by Lizann Bassham. Performances will benefit The Living Room’s support programs for women who are homeless and their children.
“Stories Seldom Told” is a readers’ theater and music piece developed to celebrate the stories of women and men who have often been repressed or silenced by culture and literature. “Stories Seldom Told” revolves around the stories of fifteen women out of the Judeo-Christian Biblical story. In this feminist retelling of some familiar and some less familiar events, the women, who have often been talked about, or barely mentioned, speak their own version of the story, tell of their own experience. The stories echo through into this century for anyone who has ever been betrayed, searched for meaning, been maligned, spoken up to injustice, or simply struggled with family. |
