| More Information: | The “Stabat Mater” score was completed in February 1816, but the first public performance of it was not until March 1833, five years after Schubert’s death. In fact, much of Schubert’s music was not well known and appreciated until after his death. This particular “Stabat Mater” contains some of the best choral writing of the period, including two fine fugues. Most people know Schubert for his beautiful lieder and instrumental works, but his choral works also feature his gift for the beautiful melodic line. |
